Segments

Voxxy will break up your transcript into segments. Each segment represents a portion of speech, typically containing one or more sentences from a single speaker.

What are segments?

Segments are created automatically when Voxxy processes your recording:

• Natural grouping - Segments contain a sentence, or collection of sentences, grouped naturally
• Speaker attribution - Each segment is attributed to a single speaker
• Sequential order - Segments appear in the order they were spoken in your audio file

Speaker identification

Voxxy automatically identifies speakers in your recording:

• Voice analysis - Speakers are identified by accent, dialect, tone, and other characteristics
• Name identification - Voxxy analyses the transcript to identify a name for each speaker

Update speaker name

To update a speaker's name:

1. Find a segment attributed to the speaker that you wish to update
2. Click the edit button next to the speaker's name
3. Enter the new name
4. Click the "Next" button
5. You'll be asked how you want to apply the update:
   • Update selected segment only - Changes the speaker's name for this segment only
   • Update all matching segments - Changes the speaker's name for all segments that Voxxy has matched to this speaker
6. Click the "Save" button

Edit segment text

To edit the segment text associated with a segment:

1. Click the edit button inside of the segment
2. Make your changes to the text
3. Click the "Save" button

Play segment

Each segment has a play button. If you click this, the audio player will skip to the start of the segment. This makes it easy to navigate your audio file using your transcript segments.
